Editorial Policy
This policy governs everything published on JoomlaXTC. It applies to staff, contributors and commissioned writers without exception.
1. Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. No advertiser, sponsor, affiliate partner, extension developer or template vendor has any influence over what we cover, how we cover it, or the verdicts we reach. Nobody outside the editorial team sees an article before publication.
We do not sell coverage. We do not accept payment, free licences beyond what is needed to test, hosting credit, or any other consideration in exchange for a review, a mention, a link, or a score.
2. Accuracy and verification
Every technical instruction we publish is executed on a real Joomla installation before it goes out. We state the exact Joomla version a guide was written and verified against, and we display that version on the article itself.
Factual claims are sourced to primary material wherever possible: the Joomla project’s own release notes and security announcements, the CVE and NVD records, vendor documentation, and published changelogs. Our Fact-Checking Policy sets out the process in detail.
3. Corrections
We correct errors promptly and visibly. When we change an article after publication:
- Material errors — a wrong command, an incorrect version number, a mischaracterised security issue, a wrong price — are fixed and a dated correction note is appended to the article explaining what was wrong and what changed.
- Substantive updates — new Joomla release, changed vendor behaviour — are made in place, the “verified” date is updated, and significant changes are noted.
- Typographical fixes that do not change meaning are made silently.
We do not quietly delete articles that turn out to be wrong. If something is unsalvageable we say so on the page.
4. Authorship
Every article carries a named author with a profile page setting out their background and area of expertise. We do not publish under house bylines, pseudonyms, or invented staff names. Authors write within their stated expertise; where an article crosses into another area it is reviewed by the relevant editor.
5. Sources and attribution
Where an article draws on external material we link to it. Where we build on someone else’s published work we say so and link to the original. We do not republish other people’s content, and we do not paraphrase a source closely enough to avoid crediting it. See our Sources and References Policy.
6. AI and automated tooling
We use software to assist with research, spell-checking and formatting. We do not publish machine-generated articles. Every article on this site is written, edited and technically verified by the named human author, who is accountable for its accuracy.
7. Conflicts of interest
Contributors disclose any commercial relationship with a product they write about — employment, contracting, consulting, or an ownership stake. Where a conflict cannot be managed, the piece is reassigned. Disclosures appear on the article itself, not buried in a policy page.
8. Commercial content
Any content that is paid for, sponsored, or carries an affiliate arrangement is labelled as such on the page. See our Advertising Disclosure and Affiliate Disclosure. We do not publish advertorial disguised as editorial.
9. Right of reply
If we criticise a product, its developer may respond and we will publish a fair summary of that response alongside the original. Disagreement with a verdict is not grounds for amendment; a demonstrated factual error is, and we will correct it.
