About JoomlaXTC

JoomlaXTC is an independent publication about the Joomla content management system. We publish tutorials, upgrade and migration guides, security advisories in plain language, and reviews of the extensions and templates people actually build with.

Why this site exists

Joomla is a mature CMS with a documentation problem. The official docs are thorough but written for people who already understand the architecture. The community forums hold enormous knowledge, scattered across threads that are frequently a decade old and reference versions nobody runs any more. Meanwhile a large share of the tutorial content that ranks well was written for Joomla 3, never updated, and quietly breaks things on a Joomla 5 site.

We started JoomlaXTC to close that gap. Every guide here is written against a specific, stated Joomla version, tested on a real installation, and stamped with the date we last verified it. When a guide goes stale, we either update it or mark it clearly — we do not leave 2019 instructions sitting on the internet pretending to be current.

What we cover

  • Tutorials — installation, configuration, template overrides, multilingual setups, SEO and performance work.
  • Migrations & Upgrades — moving between Joomla major versions, and migrating to or from other platforms.
  • Security — advisories translated into concrete actions, hardening guides, and incident response for sites that have already been compromised.
  • Extensions & Templates — hands-on reviews and comparisons, scored against a published methodology.
  • News — release coverage focused on what actually changed and whether you need to act.

How we work

We are a small editorial team. Every article carries a named author with a real byline and a profile page, and every author works within the standards set out in our Editorial Policy. Reviews follow the process documented in How We Review. Factual claims are checked against primary sources — the Joomla project’s own release notes, the CVE record, and vendor documentation — as described in our Fact-Checking Policy.

We are not a vendor. We do not sell templates, extensions, hosting or support, and we have no commercial relationship with the projects we cover. Where any page carries advertising or an affiliate arrangement, it is disclosed on that page and in our Affiliate Disclosure.
