Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated August 2026.

Who we are

JoomlaXTC is an independent publication about the Joomla CMS, reachable at privacy@joomlaxtc.com for any question relating to this policy or your personal data.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Email correspondence — if you write to us, we keep your message and address in order to reply and to maintain a record of corrections and disputes.
  • Newsletter subscription — if you subscribe, we store your email address for the purpose of sending the newsletter. Nothing else.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs — IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer and timestamp, recorded by the web server for security and diagnostics. Retained for 30 days.
  • Analytics — aggregate measurement of which pages are read. We use this to decide what to write next.

What we do not collect

We do not require an account to read anything. We do not collect payment information, because we do not sell anything. We do not build advertising profiles of readers, and we do not sell, rent or trade personal data.

Legal basis

Where the UK GDPR and EU GDPR apply, we rely on: legitimate interests for server logs and aggregate analytics (operating and securing the site); consent for newsletter subscription and any non-essential cookie; and legitimate interests for correspondence you initiate.

Retention

  • Server logs — 30 days.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe. Every email carries an unsubscribe link.
  • Correspondence — up to 24 months, or longer where it documents a published correction.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, write to privacy@joomlaxtc.com. We respond within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority.

Sharing

We share personal data only with the service providers needed to run the site — hosting, email delivery, analytics — and only to the extent needed to provide that service. We do not sell data. We may disclose information where legally required.

Cookies

Covered separately in our Cookie Policy.

Third-party sites

This policy covers joomlaxtc.com only. Sites we link to have their own policies, and we are not responsible for them.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be noted here with a revised date. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
