The social Networks are more important every day, for this reason we develop something that can connect your Joomla site with the bigger social network of the moment: Facebook. Now you can "Share" and "Like" all your Joomla! Content with the JoomlaXTC Facebook Plugin!.
Installation
Upload the .zip file to your site using the Joomla Installer.
Configuration
The plugin accepts all the styles that Facebook API had, use this parameters to modify the buttons layout according to your needs and likes.:
Force in Joomla Articles? - Yes to show the plugin in all the Joomla articles, that option will send the Joomla article url to Facebook.
Force in K2 Items? - Yes to show the plugin in all the k2 items, that option will send the k2 item url to Facebook.
Facebook 'Like' parameters
Layout - Choose the form of the button.
Show Faces? - Specifies whether to display profile photos below the button (standard layout only)
Width - Width of the Like button.
Height - Height of the Like button.
Verb to display - Choose the form of the button.
Font - Choose the form of the button.
Color Scheme - Choose the form of the button.
Facebook 'Share' parameters
Layout - Choose the form of the button.
Text to show - Select the text that want to show
Width - Width of the Share button.
Height - Height of the Share button.
The plugin also uses additional parameters to configure the articles/items that won't show the buttons.
Joomla Article Filters
Categories to exclude - Select the Joomla categories that want to exclude of the Facebook like or share button.
Articles to exclude - Select the Joomla articles that want to exclude of the Facebook like or share button
K2 Items Filters
Categories to exclude - Select the K2 categories that want to exclude of the Facebook like or share button.
Items to exclude - Select the K2 items that want to exclude of the Facebook like or share button.
Usage:
The plugin can be embedded in any text content in your site, keep in mind that 3rd party content applications must be capable of using Joomla! content plugins for it to work properly. Of course, the plugin must be set as Enabled first in Joomla! plugin manager.
In order to add the facebook buttons within your text content, edit the Article or item using the Joomla! article editor or 3rd party item editor, locate the exact place for your player within the content and insert a placeholder tag like this:
{fbshare} to get the Share button, notice that this tag will put the code that facebook returns with any fix, this button will appears exactly in the place that you set the tag.
{fblike} it's exactly the same that the fbshare, will put the code exactly as Facebook returns it, the button will appears in the same point where you set the plugin.
Save the article once you have entered the placeholder tag and review the changes in the frontend of your site. You should now see the article text with the placeholder tag being replaced by the respective Facebook Button.
Aditionaly you can set the "Force" parameters, in this case the buttons will appears in the position that you selected in the parameter. If this option is enable, the buttons will apear until the tag was not set.
Notes:
- K2 component is not supported for Joomla! 1.6, so for the moment the parameters that works over it are not available in the JoomlaXTC Facebook Buttons plugin for Joomla 1.6
